Job Summary
The Privacy Program Specialist is responsible for supporting the Privacy Office in compliance and risk management related to FOIPPA and CASL. The role focuses largely on supporting CPABC’s privacy compliance including the collection, use, disclosure, retention, and destruction of personal information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the day-to-day operations of the Privacy Office, including inbox management, responding to student and member confirmation requests and other administrative duties;
- Assist with containing and investigating suspected or real privacy incidents;
- Support privacy training and awareness efforts;
- Assist in conducting low to moderately complex privacy impact assessments;
- Support the maintenance of CPABC’s records management system for the privacy team;
- Assist in maintaining the Personal Information Directory;
- Maintain and assist in updating operational documentation, including privacy policies, standards, and procedures, and knowledge bases;
- Assist with ongoing and collaborative reviews to ensure that the collection, use, disclosure, retention, and destruction of personal information is in compliance with FOIPPA;
- Build partnerships with CPABC staff to provide support and guidance on best practices on privacy and CASL matters;
- Contribute to the recommendation of appropriate controls and assisting with mitigation strategies.
- Assist with special projects;
- Provide input into and implement continuous process improvements;
And other duties and responsibilities may be assigned from time to time.
Key Requirements:
Knowledge and Experience
- Post-Secondary qualification in a related discipline, or equivalent experience;
Demonstrated Skills and Abilities
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively, build credibility and strong relationships with a broad range of stakeholders at all levels in the organization;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong decision making and judgment skills;
- Highly professional, diplomatic and tactful;
- High degree of integrity and professionalism when handling confidential files and information;
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted and collaborative working relationships with business and cross functional teams;
- Process oriented with excellent attention to detail;
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to work independently;
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products, including SharePoint;
- Strong understanding of technology tools and cyber-security
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities
- Privacy certification (e.g. CIPP/C) and/or experience relating to FOIPPA/Privacy legislation policies and directives an asset;
The starting annual salary for this position is between $54,150.00 and 64,250.00 per annum, based on candidates’ qualifications, experience, and internal parity. Exceptions may be considered with further review.
